zool+leest+upper (2015)
A pair of shoes made during an interdisciplinary workshop (one week) at KASK, School of Arts. I participated in the workshop zool+leest+upper (= sole+boot tree+upper) from the fashion department. The idea was to reduce a shoe to its most simple and functional form: sole, boot tree and upper. Instead of using advanced tools we searched for easy and customizable ways of connecting the different pieces.
I created a simple technique where the different pieces are held together with notches and elastic bands. In total I used three materials (solid rubber, recycled synthetic felt and elastic bands) and one way of connecting.
