Workshop: printing on textile (2018)
How are motif and pattern created on textile and how can you design them yourself? Are there simple ways to create a pattern on a piece of fabric?
In this workshop the participants (all between 10 and 14 years old) got to discover the whole process hands-on.
In a playful way I showed the participants various possibilities to design a pattern. First we discovered by puzzling and frottage how a motif and thus a pattern arise. Then we learned different painting and printing techniques to create a pattern on fabric. There was a lot of room to experiment with the techniques and by the end of the week, each participant created something for themselves in their own style.
This workshop was held at Texture, museum of flax and river Lys, based in Kortrijk. www.texturekortrijk.be
